Las Mariposas Productions (LMP) and Worcester Film Works (WFW) are happy to announce the 4th annual Movies on the Common series.

The new season brings the free presentation of The Big Lebowski on June 19th, The Goonies on July 17th, and Finding Nemo on August 21st to the historic landmark.

Rain dates are scheduled for the following Thursdays.  2014 offers new music and food trucks, and an added beer garden.  These added festivities will help LMP and WFW reach their goal of 1,000 people at each film.  The two groups ask for the public’s help with this mission as well.

Pepper’s Fine Catering is generously hosting the beer garden on June 19th and July 17thLibations will be sold on the back plaza of City Hall and only adults 21 years of age and older will be allowed to enter.  Starting at 6pm, folks of all ages can enjoy a great selection of delish eats from food trucks serving on Franklin Street.  The lineup includes VESTA Mobile Wood-Fired Pizza, Wooberry Frozen Yogurt, The Dogfather, and Away Café Mobile Kitchen.  Music begins at 5:30pm and movies at dusk.

This new experience brings the community together; a process which started with the public’s engagement in the selection of this year’s flicks.  One of the more popular picks turned out to be the June 19th film The Big Lebowski.  In addition to this R-rated film —  to be shown on the date of the latest sunset , music from Neptune's Car and The Lied To's, Featuring Doug Kwartler and Susan Levine, offers the 18+ crowd a fun way to kick off the weekend.  Later in the summer, the presentation of The Goonies and Finding Nemo will draw children young and old to the Common, all of which helps to reach our goal of 1,000 people per event. Updates will be available throughout the season at www.worcesterfilmworks.org or www.lasmariposasprod.org.

Third Thursdays-Movies on the Common is sponsored in part by:  Bay State Savings Bank, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Commerce Bank.  It is also supported by a grant from the Worcester Arts Council.
